PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 15, 2014) – Rutgers junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) was named the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after his record breaking long jump performance at last week’s Spec Towns Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia.
Crawford recorded his best outdoor mark of his career and new school record in the long jump at 7.80m (25’ 7 ¼”). His distance is currently tied for fourth nationally, as well as third in the East Region and at the top of the American standings. Crawford surpassed his previous best outdoor mark of 7.61m from the 2012 USF Bulls Invite and the former RU bench mark of 7.70m set by Marquis Allen at the 2005 IC4As.
The Rutgers men’s track and field team returns to action at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton on April 18-19.
