PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 16, 2014) – The Rutgers men’s indoor track & field season continues with the Great Dane Invitational hosted by the University of Albany at the NYC Armory.
Last season the Scarlet Knights finished sixth in the 20 team field with fellow American Athletic Conference member Connecticut taking home the title.
Rutgers captured several notable results last season including a pair of personal bests on the track. Senior Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) took seventh in the 1000m a time of 2:29.9 for his best time in the event and junior Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) collected seventh place in the 3000m with an indoor season personal best of 8:36.31.
In the field events, RU was led by sophomore Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) in the long jump.. Eze took seventh in the long jump at a distance of 7.02m.
Rutgers is coming off its lone home meet of the season last weekend at the Rutgers Invitational. The Scarlet Knights logged eight first place finishes and a total of eight IC4A qualifying standards. Highlighting RU’s results was junior D’Andre Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who repeated as the RU Invite 400m champion, as well as taking home the 200m title.
Following Friday’s Great Dane Invitational, the Rutgers men’s indoor track & field team will travel to Boston, Mass. to participate in the Terrier Classic on Saturday, Jan. 25.
