PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 24, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s track & field team was recognized as a 2013 Division I  U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Track & Field squad, while senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for his combined effort in competition and in the classroom.

The Scarlet Knights collected a cumulative 3.10 team grade point average and was one of 111 institutions earning all-academic team honors as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.

A biology major, Wyckoff boasted a 3.55 point average competing for the Scarlet Knights track & field squad in the pole vault.

Wyckoff took fourth at the both the BIG EAST Championships and IC4A championships and just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships.  At the NCAA East Regional, Wyckoff tied the Rutgers pole vault record with a personal best 5.20m and placed 15th overall, three places from qualifying for the championships in Eugene, Ore.

At the IC4A Championships, Wyckoff cleared the bar at 5.15m, which he also accomplished in winning the Colonial Relays in early April.  He also took home the pole vault title at Richmond’s Fred Hardy Invitational and Georgia’s Spec Towns National Team Invitational.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
