PRINCETON, N.J. (May 12, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s outdoor track & field team concluded IC4A Championship competition on Sunday taking sixth place overall highlighted by the Scarlet Knights 4x800 relay team taking home second place on the final day of action.
Cornell captured the IC4A team title with 68 points followed by BYU with 56 points and George Mason in third with 50 points. The Scarlet Knights racked up 36.50 points in their sixth place finish.
The 4x800 relay team of junior Karon Purcell (East Windsor, N.J.), sophomore Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.), junior Curtis Richburg (West Orange, N.J.) and senior Monroe Kearns (Jackson, N.J.) claimed second place as the Scarlet Knights combined for a time of 7:35.76.
Senior Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) tied for sixth in the high jump reaching a height of 2.09m, tying his season best of the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor campaigns. In the javelin, BIG EAST Champion freshman Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) finished in seventh with his second attempt reaching a distance of 63.73m.
