PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 9, 2013) – Rutgers seniors Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) and Monroe Kearns (Jackson, N.J.) earned BIG EAST Men’s Outdoor Track & Field awards after recording two first-place marks at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. last weekend.
Bostick took first place in the triple jump at the Colonial Relays with a mark of 15.24m. The jump is ranked third in the BIG EAST behind teammate Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.), who ranks first with a mark of 15.33m. The senior was previously named BIG EAST Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 29.
Kearns was named BIG EAST Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week with a first-place finish in the 800m at the Colonial Relays. The senior crossed the line in 1:49.80 which ranks third in the league.
The Scarlet Knights lead the 31-team field at the Colonial Relays to take home the title. Rutgers garnered 133 points for the first place finish, followed by Bucknell in second (116 points), Monmouth in third (77.5 points), Shippensburg in fourth (60 points), and Virginia Tech in fifth (59 points).
The Rutgers men’s outdoor track & field team returns to action at the Spec Town Invitational in Athens, Georgia and the Metropolitan Championships on April 12-13.
