PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 2, 2013) – Senior James Plummer (South Toms River, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week for the second in a row after setting a pair of discus records at the Fred Hardy Invitational held by the University of Richmond last weekend.
Plummer set a Robins Stadium facility record and Fred Hardy Invitational record of 60.72m in taking first place in the discus. The Scarlet Knight smashed the previous meet record of 50.17 set in 2007 and reset a new facility mark surpassing the previous distance of 58.64m set back in 1980.
Plummer’s mark is currently third in the nation and leads all BIG EAST competitors.
The Rutgers men’s outdoor track & field team returns to action April 5-6 at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
