BRONX, N.Y. (January 18, 2013) – Senior James Plummer (South Toms River, N.J.) captured first place in the shot put to highlight the Rutgers men’s indoor track and field results at the Great Dane Classic.
The Scarlet Knights placed sixth in the 20 team field collecting 37.50 points. Connecticut led the field with 126.50 points followed by host Albany (82) and Villanova (71).
In addition to Plummer taking first place in the shot put at 17.66m (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier), the Scarlet Knights had a pair of second place results in other field events. Senior Adam Bergo (Planfield, N.J.) took second in the high jump with a distance of 2.09m (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier) and senior Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) placed second in the triple jump at 2.09m (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier).
Other highlights included a seventh place finish by senior Pat Gray (East Winsor, N.J.) in the pole vault at a height of 4.50m (BIG EAST Qualifier), and freshman Emeke Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) taking seventh in the long jump at a distance of 7.02m (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier),
In the track events, senior Monroe Kerns (Jackson, N.J.) finished in fifth in 800m logging a time of 1:56.12. In the 1000m, Curtis Richburg took seventh in a time of 2:29.95 (BIG EAST & IC4A Qualifier) and sophomore Chris DeFabio (Millington, N.J.) collected seventh place in the 3000m with a time of 8:36.31.
