PISCATAWAY, N.J. (January 5, 2013) – Senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) and junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) set new facility records at the Indoor Bubble as the Rutgers men’s track and field teams competed at the Rutgers Invitational this weekend.

In all, the Scarlet Knights registered 11 first place finishes and 17 BIG EAST qualifying marks at the RU Invite.

Wyckoff pole vaulted his way to a height of 5.12m to top all competitors and surpass the previous RU facility record (5.10m) held by Ed Keefe.  Teammates, senior Pat Gray (East Windsor, N.J.) and sophomore Anthony Genco (Kailau, Hawaii), tied for second with a height of 4.35m.

Crawford, who currently holds the top long jump measurement in the nation, jumped to a distance of 7.37 to take first.  Crawford leaped past the previous Scarlet Knight facility mark held by Pat Austin.  Freshman Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) took second leaping to 6.89m.

In other field events from Saturday, the Scarlet Knights also had BIG EAST qualifying marks in the high jump, triple jump, shot put, and weight throw.

In the high jump, RU’s senior Glenn Scheideler (Randolph, N.J.) and senior Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) were among a three-way tie for first place with a distance of 2.00m.

Bostick took first in the triple jump with a distance of 15.33 with senior Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) in third at 14.60.  Both Scarlet Knights earned BIG EAST qualifying marks.

Senior James Plummer (South Toms River, N.J.) took first surpassing BIG EAST standards in both the shot put and weight throw.  Plummer captured 15.89m in the shot put and 17.55m in the weight throw.

In the field events, Eza captured two top finishes, both BIG EAST qualifying times, in addition to his conference mark set in the long jump the previous day.  In the 60m, he placed first in a time of 7.10, while in the 200m he raced to a top time of 22.30.  In addition to Eza’s conference qualifying time in the 200m, teammates, freshman Rajee Dunbar (Arlington, Va.) took second in a time of 22.33 and sophomore D’Andrea Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 22.34 for qualifying times as well.

D’Andre and Dunbar went one-two in the 400m.  Jordan, with his second BIG EAST qualifying mark, placed first crossing the finish line in a time of 49.15, edging tour Dunbar who finished second with his time of 49.35.

Rounding out the track events was a top time by junior Chris Banafato (Bridgewater, N.J.) in the 300m.  Banafato registered RU’s sixth BIG EAST qualifying mark in the track events with his first place time of 8:42.80.
