BRONX, N.Y. (January 17, 2012) – Rutgers men’s track and field resumed the indoor season, competing at the Saturday Night at the Armory meet at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York, N.Y. The Scarlet Knights placed second in a 14-team field with 107 points.
Rutgers secured titles in a pair of events as senior Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) won the triple jump and sophomore Corey Caidenhead (Bergenfield, N.J.) was victorious in the 800-meter. Bergo recorded a jump of 15.26 meters, while Caidenhead clocked a time of 1:54.23, both BIG EAST qualifying marks. Bergo also competed in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.04 meters (BE qualifier) to place third.
Junior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) took second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.85 meters.
Senior Stephen Werner (Newtown Sq, Pa.) and freshman D’Andre Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed third and posted BIG EAST qualifying times in their respective events as Werner ran 48.56 in the 400-meter and Jordan clocked 1:04.58 in the 500-meter. Jordan also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing sixth (22.30) behind fellow freshman Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) who took fifth (22.30).
Rutgers will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 for a quad meet against Rhode Island, Temple and host Navy.
