PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rutgers women’s tennis team completed the second day of competition at Brown University, Saturday, Sept. 26. The Scarlet Knights faced Auburn, Brown, and Boston University – all nationally ranked squads in 2009 – as well as Boston College in the five-team tournament.
The story of the weekend thus far has been the play of sophomore Jennifer Holzberg (Easton, Conn.), who remains undefeated at the tournament, with wins over two high regionally ranked players.
“The competition at this tournament is very strong, yet we have been holding our own throughout,” said head coach Benjamin Bucca. “This weekend demonstrates the progress we have made as a program, as we are establishing ourselves as one of the top teams in the northeast region.”
Also with two wins are junior Amy Zhang (Plano, Texas) and sophomore Leonora Slatnick (Austin, Texas).
The Brown Tournament concludes Sunday, Sept. 27.
