PISCATAWAY, NJ – Helen Magomedova (Brooklyn, NY) won a hard-fought three-set match at sixth singles, but the Rutgers women’s tennis team (3-3, 1-1 BIG EAST) dropped a 6-1 decision to BIG EAST foe Syracuse on Sunday in Piscataway.
After sweeping all three doubles matches, the Orange picked up two important wins in singles when Victoria Vaynberg and Catherine Zawadzki were victorious in straight sets. Ashley Lipton defeated freshman Anela Dujsic (Mississauga, Ontario) in three sets to give SU a 4-0 lead to clinch the match, and the Orange also claimed victories at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, Feb. 26, when they travel to West Point, NY, to face Army.
