  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – Senior Andrea Weckstein (Holmdel, NJ) was named the Most Valuable Player at the annual Rutgers women’s tennis awards banquet on Wednesday, May 18.

Weckstein played first singles and first doubles this season for the Scarlet Knights, posting a 16-16 record in singles competition and teaming with Ketevan Shmakova (Dover, NJ) at first doubles for a 16-10 mark. In the fall, she was the Scarlet Knights’ representative at the ITA Regional in Blacksburg, VA.

This spring, Weckstein led a late-season charge that saw RU win its final five matches and qualify for the BIG EAST Championships in Coral Gables, FL. Under first-year head coach Ben Bucca, Rutgers finished 13-9 this year, including a 7-3 mark against BIG EAST competition.
