PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 4, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s tennis team is set to travel to Storrs, Conn., to take on the BIG EAST foe UConn at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 5. This will be the third conference matchup of the season for the Scarlet Knights, who currently hold a 2-0 record in league play.
RU is 5-2 on the season under 10th-year head coach Benjamin Bucca. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 5-2 win over Marquette and have won three-straight contests. Freshman Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) holds a team-best 6-1 record in No. 2 singles play this season. This will be the fourth road match of the season for Rutgers.
Last season, the Scarlet Knights swept the Huskies, 7-0, at home on April 4, 2012.
UConn is 1-4 overall, including an 0-1 conference record. The Huskies fell to BIG EAST opponent Cincinnati, 6-1, on Feb. 15. RU downed the Bearcats two days later, 4-3. UConn is coming off a 6-1 loss to Quinnipiac (Feb. 27) and its lone win came in the form of a 6-1 victory over Bryant (Feb. 20). The squad is led by 21st-year head coach Glenn Marshall.
