  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 16, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s tennis team dropped its match to Princeton, 7-0, in Princeton, N.J., Saturday. Two Scarlet Knights took Tigers players to a full three sets in singles play.

RU dropped to 2-2 on the season while Princeton improved to 3-1.

In singles play, freshmen Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.) each went to tie-breaking sets in their matches. Li took Princeton’s Amanda Muliawan to a deciding third set, but fell by scores of 6-4, 1-6 and 9-11. Kayati also participated in a tightly-contested match, but dropped a 4-6, 6-2, 12-14 contest to Katie Goepel of the Tigers.

The tandem of Kayati and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) pushed Katherine Flanigan and Emily Hahn of Princeton in No. 2 doubles play, but couldn’t cap it off as they were defeated, 7-8.

The Scarlet Knights are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 17, in their first BIG EAST match of the season against Cincinnati at 10 a.m. at the Atlantic Club in Manasquan, N.J.
