PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 6, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s tennis team continues its season with two road matches, first at Lehigh on Feb. 7 then at Penn on Feb. 9. The Scarlet Knights take on the Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem, Pa., at 3 p.m. on Thursday, before heading to Penn in Philadelphia at noon on Saturday.
Led by 10th-year head coach Ben Bucca, RU is coming off a close 4-3 loss to Delaware on Feb. 3 in its season opener. The Scarlet Knights took three of six singles contests in the match. Junior Vanessa Petrini (Stamford, Conn.), freshman Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and classmate Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.) each picked up a singles victory. The tandem of Li and Kayati also picked up a win in doubles play.
Lehigh is 1-2 on the season, with losses to Penn and Drexel. The Mountain Hawks are coming off their first win of the season over Saint Francis (Pa.) on Feb. 3. The squad is led by 17th-year head coach Dave Shook.
Penn holds and undefeated 2-0 record, beating both Lehigh and Saint Joseph’s in dominating fashion, 7-0. Fourth-year head coach Sanela Kunovac is at the helm of the Quakers.
