Rutgers Women’s Tennis Announces Three Signings
Scarlet Knights sign three top-100 players

    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 18, 2011) – Rutgers University women’s tennis and head coach Ben Bucca are pleased to announced the signings of three top-100 recruits. Lindsey Kayati (Monroeville, N.J.)Gina Li (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Mariam Zein (Sugarland, Texas) have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend Rutgers, making up the 2012 recruiting class.

    “This is a very strong recruiting class,” said Bucca. “All three are accomplished players on the national scene and are very serious-minded students. This incoming class will only enhance and continue the strong tradition we have here at Rutgers Tennis of athletic and academic excellence. With the strong foundation that we have built over the years and the addition of these three outstanding young ladies, the future is very promising for tennis at Rutgers.”

    Kayati is a senior at Woodstown High School, hailing from Monroeville, N.J. A four-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network, she is ranked 90th in the nation and sixth in New Jersey. She has a 35-20 overall record in regionally and nationally sanctioned tournaments. A left-handed player, Kayati is coached by Justin Lavner and John Stratton.

    Li, a senior at Hillsborough High School, is from Hillsborough, N.J. and a five-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. She is ranked No. 64 in the nation and No. 3 in New Jersey, with a 51-25 record in regionally and nationally sanctioned tournaments. Li has played well against top competition, compiling a 24-1 mark against four-star players. The right-hander was recently the top-seeded player at the New Jersey State Championship in the fall. She is coached by Larry Johnson at Hillsborough HS and by Jim Li privately.

    Zein is a five-star recruit according to the Tennis Recruiting Network from Sugarland, Texas. The senior at Dulles High School is ranked No. 73 nationally and No. 4 in the state of Texas. She has a record of 39-25 overall in regionally and nationally sanctioned tournaments, with a 20-7 mark against four-star players.

    All three players will graduate in the top of their classes academically.
