Rutgers Swimming & Diving Unveils 2009-10 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s swimming and diving squad has released its 2009-10 schedule, head coach Chuck Warner announced Tuesday. Rutgers will host six events this season, most notably the Swimming World College Conference Carnival and the Zone Diving Championship.

“This season, as in our others, our training and emotional effort will be toward the Big East and NCAA Championships when we will be prepared for peak performance,” said Warner. “Along the way there will be major, exciting opponents highlighted by the Swimming World College Conference Carnival, Jan. 22-23.”

The Scarlet Knights kick off the year hosting the annual Sonny Werblin Invite, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24. Competition will begin at 4:15 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. RU then travels to Storrs, Conn. to face Connecticut and Villanova for a BIG EAST meet the following weekend, Oct. 30-31.

Rutgers starts November as the host of a head-to-head with West Virginia on the 14th. The Scarlet Knights head back north to Cambridge, Mass. for the Harvard Invitational Nov. 20-22.

RU comes home to host back-to-back meets in December. First, on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3-4, the divers will participate in the Galbraith Diving Invite. At 4:30 on Friday, the Scarlet Knights will host Wagner at Sonny Werblin.

Rutgers begins the New Year at Maryland on Jan. 9 at 1:00 p.m. The following weekend, the Scarlet Knights will be a non-host at Sonny Werblin for the Burgdorff Invite on Jan 15-16. RU closes out the month with the highly-touted 2010 Swimming World’s College Conference Carnival on Jan. 22-23 at the RU Aquatic Center in the Sonny Werblin Complex. The meet features Richmond, UMBC, Rider, Minnesota, and Central Connecticut.

The Scarlet Knights finish out the regular season in Philadelphia, Pa. for the Drexel Diving Invitational on Feb. 6.

The BIG EAST Championships are scheduled for February 17-20 in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Zone Diving Championships will be held at Rutgers March 12-14. The championship season will conclude at the NCAA Championships on March 18-20 at Purdue.
