PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – Members of the Rutgers swim team concluded competition at the U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash. and the Speedo Sectionals in Buffalo, N.Y. this weekend.

Senior Jackie Klein (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) boasted two top-15 finishes over the weekend, claiming 11th in the 100 fly (1:04.02) and seventh in the 200 fly (2:20.56) at the Speedo Sectionals. Sophomore Michelle Berman (La Mirada, Ca.) also saw action in the butterfly, finishing the 100 fly with a time of 1:06.81 and the 200 in 2:26.69 for a 35th-place finish.

At the U.S. Open, senior Shayna Longacre (Barto, Pa.) touched the wall at 1:12.71 in the 100 breaststroke for 40th place. Brianne Lindblad (Kent, Wash.) finished the weekend with a 29th place finish in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 1:03.69. Catherine Whetstone (Haven Beach, N.J.) came in just behind with a time of 1:04.26, ranking 45th

In Buffalo, N.Y., senior Tracy Dimond (Allentown, Pa.) qualified for finals in three events – the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly. In the 100 and 200 backstroke, Dimond ranked 22nd with times of 1:07.86 and 2:25.84, respectively. In the 100 fly, she finished 18th with a time of 1:04.76. The Allentown, Pa. native also swam the 200 freestyle, finishing in 2:11.56. Just behind her was senior Hailey Weniger (Pittsford, N.Y.) with a time of 2:11.93. Weniger also competed in the 100 and 200 fly. 

Also at the Speedo Sectionals, redshirt freshman Taylor Zafir (Wheaton, Ill.) returning from an injury-riddled redshirt season, swam through a hefty line-up of events. She earned her highest ranking (28th) in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:12.29. In addition, her 200 breaststroke time of 2:49.12 earned her 34th place.
