AUBURN, AL - The Rutgers University women’s swimming team finished 37th, with seven points, at the 2003 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, AL. Three RU swimmers competed on the final day of the three-day event. In all, four Scarlet Knights qualified for NCAAs.
Freshman Kelly Harrigan (Bristol, CT) competed in her third event at the NCAA Championships on Saturday. She clocked in at 157.45 to place 10th overall in the 200-yard backstroke. Harrigan, who holds the school and BIG EAST record in the event with a time of 1:56.02, swam the morning’s preliminary session in 1:56.87.
Senior All-American Erin McIntyre (Broomfield, CO) also competed in her third event at the NCAA Championships on Saturday. She swam the 1650-yard freestyle in 16:47.32 to place 32nd overall. McIntyre, who missed the first two months of this season with a broken clavicle, finished eighth in last year’s NCAA Championships.
Junior Casmera Wick (Longmont, CO) registered a time of 50.31 to place 32nd in the 100-yard freestyle event on Saturday. This is her third and final event of the NCAA Championships.
