Freshman Kelly Harrigan (Bristol, CT) competed in her second event at nationals on Friday, swimming the 100-yard backstroke in 55.16, to place 26th overall in the event. Harrigan will compete in her premiere event, the 200-yard backstroke, during Saturday’s final day of the NCAA Championships.
Senior All-American Erin McIntyre (Broomfield, CO), who also competed on Thursday, in the 500-yard freestyle event, swam the 400-yard individual medley on Friday. She registered a time of 4:22.71 to place 35th overall. McIntyre, the 2002-03 BIG EAST Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, will participate in the 1,650-yard freestyle event on Saturday. She finished eighth in the nation in the event last season.
In the 200-yard freestyle event, junior Casmera Wick (Longmont, CO) finished 22nd overall with a time of 1:48.61. She will be back in action tomorrow, competing in the 100-yard freestyle event.
Senior Michelle DeFreese (Rahway, NJ) finished 27th in the 100-yard butterfly, with a time of 54.53. She is currently the school and BIG EAST record-holder in the event with a time of 53.32.
The NCAA Championships will wrap up on Saturday with several Scarlet Knights in competition.
