Junior Sean Smith (Oklahoma City, OK) came within a second of the school record on Saturday, swimming the 1000 free in a time of 9:23:83. Also recording fast times for the Scarlet Knights were sophomore Ivan Morse (Pleasanton, CA), who swam the 100 free in a time of 45:49 and junior co-captain Nathan Ilnicki (Crescent, PA) recorded a time of 1:53:64 in the 200 IM.
On the women’s side three school records fell and three NCAA consideration times were recorded. Freshman Katie Kuczmarski (Wilmington, DE) swam a new school record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:19.92. Freshman Kelly Harrigan (Bristol, CT) broke both backstroke school records with a time in the 100 back of 57.09 and a time of 2:00.57 in the 200 back. Harrigan's 200 back time along with her performance in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.51 are both NCAA B times. Junior Casmera Wick (Longmont, CO), an honorable mention All-American, swam an NCAA consideration time of 1:50:31 in the 200 free.
Both the Rutgers men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be in action this Fr.-Sat., Oct. 24-26, in the Sonny Werblin Invitational, hosted by RU. The Scarlet Knights will welcome several club teams to the Rutgers Aquatics Center for competition.
