  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 6, 2013) – The Rutgers swimming and diving team will resume action on Saturday, Dec. 7, as the team heads to Boston, Mass., for its first competition away from the confines of the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center. The Scarlet Knights will face the Terriers of Boston University at 1:30 p.m.

Rutgers looks to maintain its perfect record in head-to-head competitions, as it boasts a 4-0 mark in dual meet scoring events. Most recently, the Scarlet Knights hosted the three-day Frank Elm Invitational from Nov. 22-24. RU claimed second in the invite, totaling 1321.5 points behind first-place Columbia, who finished with 1378.5 2.

Senior diving captain Nicole Scott (Toronto, Canada) broke her second school record of the season at the meet, coming in first in the platform dive with a final score of 295.10 points. Earlier this season, she reset the 3-meter dive record at RU’s quad meet against Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova.

Sophomore Joanna Wu (Kent, Wash.) also put on an impressive performance at the invitational, racking up three first-place individual finishes, one top-five individual finish and serving as a member of four top-five relay teams. Wu captured first in the 500 freestyle (4:55.16), 100 backstroke (55.22) and 200 backstroke (1:59.09), while finishing fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:51.53). Additionally, she was a member of the second-place 400 medley relay, the third-place 200 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay who both finished fourth.

Boston enters Friday’s meet after posting a third-place finish at the three-day Terrier Invitational it hosted from Nov. 22-24. The Terriers own a 3-1 record in head-to-head competitions.

BU also participated in Rutgers’ Frank Elm Invitational, but only in the diving events. The Terriers picked up 86 total points through three events.

The meet marks RU’s final competition of the 2013 calendar year, as the Scarlet Knights take a four-week break before resuming the schedule on Jan. 10 at Illinois.
