PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 26, 2013) – The Rutgers swimming and diving team head to Iupui Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., for the 2013 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. The contest will take place over four days, beginning on Feb. 27 and finishing March 2.
“This team has put in a lot of hard work in preparation for this meet,” said head coach Phil Spiniello. “It has been our goal all season to improve our team finish from last year. I believe we are focused and ready to achieve that goal. It is going to be a fun week in Indianapolis.”
The Scarlet Knights finished the regular season 9-2 and 2-1 in conference action. The lone BIG EAST loss came most recently during the BIG EAST quad meet hosted by RU, as the Scarlet Knights dropped a close contest to a tough Villanova squad with a 179-173 finish.
During the regular season, RU had two BIG EAST female swimming and diving athletes of the week in freshman swimmer Joanna Wu (Kent, Wash.) and sophomore diver Nicole Honey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.).
The divers will take the pool first, as they are slated to begin at noon on Wednesday. The swimmers will hit the pool for the first time Wednesday evening for relays set to begin at 6 p.m.
