PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 5, 2012) – In addition to hosting the 2012-13 Zone Diving Championships, Rutgers swimming and diving schedule will feature eight home meets and five BIG EAST contests, as announced by head coach Phil Spiniello.
“We are very excited about this year’s schedule,” commented Spiniello. “It is going to challenge us every step of the way and prepare us for the BIG EAST Championship Meet.”
The Scarlet Knights kick things off hosting a preseason event, the Intraquad Meet, on Oct. 5, the first of many home events to be held at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center (SWRC) this season.
RU then dives into the regular season, hosting four-consecutive meets, starting things off the weekend of Oct. 19, by holding the SWRC Invite. The next home contest brings Wagner to SWRC for a one-day meet on October 26, followed by the Rutgers Alumni Meet the next day.
The Scarlet Knights host the BIG EAST Quad Meet, welcoming Connecticut, Villanova, and Georgetown to Piscataway for a Nov. 2-3 contest. RU then hosts the Frank Elm Invite, a three-day event from Nov. 16-18.
“We are hosting a lot of quality teams at home this season, including the eight-team Frank Elm Invite, which will be a fast meet,” said Spiniello.
For it’s only contest in December, Rutgers heads south for it’s first away meet to see Old Dominion and George Washington in Norfolk, Va.
The Scarlet Knights open 2013 in Puerto Rico for an exhibition meet, and then return home to Sonny Werblin for a pair of weekend contests against Richmond and Central Connecticut State on Jan. 18, and James Madison Jan. 19.
Gearing up for the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, RU brings Fordham, Rider and Yale to Piscataway on Jan. 26, and then BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall on Feb. 9.
After the trip to Indianapolis for the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 27-Mar. 2, Rutgers returns home to host the Zone Diving Championships, March 15–17. The Women’s NCAA Championships will take place in Indianapolis, Ind., from March 21-23.
