PITTSBURGH, Pa. (February 11, 2012) – For the second-straight day Rutgers placed three of its divers in the top-15 of the conference at the BIG EAST Diving Championships. Scarlet Knights’ freshman diver Nicole Honey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) placed eighth in the three-meter event on day two at Trees Pool in Pittsburgh. Teammate Nicole Scott (Toronto, ON, Canada) also finished in the top-10, coming in ninth, while Valentina Gordon (Metuchen, N.J.) finished in 13th.
Honey earned a spot in the finals, coming in fifth place in the preliminaries with a score of 247.25. The New Hyde Park, N.Y., native totaled 211.85 points in the finals.
Scott, who finished sixth out of 33 divers in the one-meter event on Friday, just missed out on the finals on Saturday, coming in ninth place in the prelims with 230.66 points. In the consolation round, Scott blew the competition out of the water, totaling 249.00 points – 13.35 more points than the 10th place finisher.
Gordon recorded 203.75 in the preliminaries and jumped up four spots with 221.55 points in the consolation round.
BIG EAST Championship action concludes on Sunday with the Platform Exhibition taking place at noon.
