PITTSBURGH, Pa. (February 10, 2012) – Rutgers diving saw three of its divers finish in the top-11 spots of the one-meter event at the BIG EAST Championships on Friday at Trees Pool in Pittsburgh. Nicole Scott (Toronto, ON, Canada) finished in sixth out of 33 divers at the women’s event with a score of 251.80 in the evening’s finals.
Scott made her way into the finals with 243.65 points in the preliminary round, with the top-eight divers making the finals on Friday evening.
Katie Kearney (Mahwah, N.J.) placed inside the top-10, finishing ninth with 246.70 points in the consolation round, after coming in 14th in the preliminary round (219.35). Nicole Honey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) followed with an 11th place finish, totaling 237.65 in the consolation round and 227.60 in the prelims.
Valentina Gordon (Metuchen, N.J.) tallied 202.35 points during her six dives in the preliminaries.
BIG EAST Championship action continues Saturday at noon with the three-meter preliminaries, followed by the three-meter finals scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday will conclude the championships with the Platform Exhibition taking place at noon.
