March-13-04 Bench Takes Fourth on Second Day of Diving Regionals
ANNAPOLIS, MD - On day two of the NCAA Zone ‘A’ Diving Championship in Lejeune Hall on the campus of the United States Naval Academy on Saturday, March 13, senior Jared Bench (West Babylon, NY) finished fourth (564.10) in the men’s one-meter diving event. He finished ninth (469.90) in the three-meter dive on day one.

February-22-04 Women Finish Second, Men Fourth at BIG EAST Swimming Championships
EAST MEADOW, NY - For the second consecutive year, the Rutgers women’s swimming and diving team finished second at the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships, which were held this year at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. The Scarlet Knights won a total of five events this year, and following the meet Rutgers’ seventh-year head coach Chuck Warner was named Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the second year in a row and third time in his tenure.

February-20-04 RU Women Drop to Second, Men Remain in Fourth After Second Day of BIG EAST Championship
EAST MEADOW, NY - After two days of the 2004 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center, the Rutgers women’s swimming and diving team is in second place with 419 points, while the men’s team stands in fourth with 315 points. Defending champion Notre Dame leads the women’s competition with 503.5 points and Pittsburgh is out ahead of the men’s field with 534 points.

EAST MEADOW, NY – The Rutgers men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams enjoyed a strong opening day at the 2004 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. The women lead, holding a five-point lead over second-place and seven-time defending champion Notre Dame.

February-18-04 RU Swimming and Diving Heads to BIG EAST Championships This Weekend
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, NY, from Thursday, Feb. 19, through Saturday Feb. 21, to compete in the BIG EAST Championship. Last season, the men’s team placed third, while the women’s squad was the runner-up to champion Notre Dame, which won its seventh consecutive title.

ORLANDO, FL - Rutgers junior Sean Smith (Oklahoma City, OK) swam a long course school record of 2:02.91 this morning in the 200 butterfly at the USA National Championships in Orlando, FL, to qualify for the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Long Beach, CA, July 7-14.

January-31-04 RU Swimming and Diving Falls at #13 Penn State
STATE COLLEGE, PA - The Rutgers men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams fell short in their bids to end the dual-meet season undefeated as both teams lost to Penn State on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Scarlet Knight women (8-1, 5-0 BIG EAST) lost 166-76 to the No. 13 Nittany Lion women, while the men (7-1, 4-0 BIG EAST) were defeated 130-113.

January-23-04 Men's Swimming Defeats Columbia to Remain Unbeaten
PISCATAWAY, NJ - On the strength of several 1-2-3 finishes, the Rutgers men’s swimming and diving team (7-0, 4-0 BIG EAST) defeated Columbia 129-108 in its final home meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 23.

January-17-04 Swimming and Diving Sweeps Seton Hall and St. John's
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each garnered a pair of BIG EAST victories with dominating wins over St. John’s and Seton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Sonny Werblin Center. The men (6-0, 4-0 BIG EAST) defeated the Pirates 198-106 and the Red Storm 175-107, while the women (8-0, 5-0 BIG EAST) were victorious over Seton Hall 187-112 and St. John’s 174-107.
