Tennis Hosts Stony Brook in Midweek Action

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers tennis remains home when it hosts Stony Brook Wednesday at noon. Depending on weather, the match will either be contested outside at the RU Tennis Center, or inside at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.

Scarlet Knights dropped a pair of Big Ten Conference home matches to No. 8 Michigan and Michigan State over the weekend.

Junior Mingxiu Du collected a convincing 6-2, 6-0 decision over Michigan State's Aslina Chua in her No. 1 singles match on Sunday.

MSU's Lexi Baylis snapped senior Farris Cunningham's four-match Big Ten Conference winning streak, as Cunningham fell in three sets. Cunningham had four-straight wins over Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State and Northwestern prior to the loss.

Catching Up with the Scarlet Knights
Through 17 duals, Cunningham leads the program with eight victories from the No. 6 position. Her four Big Ten wins this season also lead RU. Du and freshman Katherine Muzik are second on the team with seven victories, with Du owning a 3-5 mark in the No. 1 position during conference action.

Cunningham and freshman Jacqueline Cochrane lead RU with a 9-4 doubles record this season, which includes its 6-4 victory over Penn State last Sunday in the No. 2 position. The duo has won three of its last five Big Ten doubles matches, with wins over PSU, Northwestern and Indiana. 

Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves enter Wednesday's match after it defeated NJIT, 6-1, on April 2 in Stony Brook, N.Y. After it dropped the doubles point, Stony Brook swept all six singles matches for the dual win.

Elizabeth Tsvetkov finished the 2015-16 season with an 11-4 record, which included a 7-3 mark in No. 1 singles.

Gary Glassman is the head coach of Stony Brook. He is assisted by D.J. Wilson and Justin Drzal.
