A former four-year letterwinner for the Rutgers tennis team, Vanessa Petrini enters her second season as a volunteer assistant for the Scarlet Knights.
The Stamford, Conn., native enjoyed a standout career “On the Banks”, earning All-Big East and All-American Athletic Conference recognition during her time at RU. As a Scarlet Knight, Petrini was a two-time semi-finalist at the ITA Regional Championships.
In singles play, Petrini compiled a career record of 55-26, leading Rutgers in singles victories with an impressive 17-1 record during her rookie season, when she was named the team’s most valuable player. Petrini also produced 43 doubles wins in four seasons with the program.
After her collegiate career, Petrini – who earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Rutgers in 2014 – worked as a Junior Development Tennis Professional at the Centercourt Sports Academy in Chatham, N.J. Petrini also spent time as a tennis professional at the Old Greenwich Tennis Academy and Burning Tree Country Club.
