Wednesday Results

Rutgers swimming and diving collected two season-best times, including an eighth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, to conclude session one of the Big Ten Championships Wednesday night in West Lafayette, Indiana.

In team action, the Scarlet Knights are tied for ninth in the early stages of the championship.

RU opened the session with an eighth-place result in the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Vera Koprivova, senior Rachel Stoddard, sophomore Francesca Stoppa and freshman Clare Lawlor hit the wall with a time 1:39.93, just .36 seconds behind the program record of 1:39.57 set at last year’s championships.

In the 800 freestyle relay, Koprivova, senior Chantal Asselin, and rookies Meghan Moses and Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba finished 12th with a time 7:18.71, also a season best in the event.

Rutgers opens Thursday’s preliminary session with the 50 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 IM and the 1-meter dive. The night portion will feature all four events along with the 400 medley relay.
