PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Former Scarlet Knight Shannon Woeller has been named to the Canadian Women’s National Team roster, Canada Soccer announced. Woeller will join the squad for its two matches against Costa Rica on June 8 in Winnipeg and June 11 in Toronto.
Woeller also saw action with the Canadian National Team from 2009-12, totaling 17 caps with the team and 12 starts.
The center back won a gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games, starting every game and was named Player of the Match against Argentina. Additionally, she collected a silver medal at the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament, earning the start in every contest and helping Canada book a spot at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
A native of Vancouver, Woeller competed for the Scarlet Knights from 2009-12. The back was a two-time team captain and a 2011 BIG EAST All-Conference selection. Off the field, Woeller was a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and was placed on the Dean's List every semester. She was also named to the 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Second Team.
