PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers wrestling program and Embrace Kids Foundation will hold its second annual blood drive on Tuesday, April 25 from 3-8 p.m. at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Those who participate in the blood drive will help save the lives of people in dire need of blood transfusions.

"It's always a pleasure any time we're able to work with Embrace Kids," said head coach Scott Goodale. "Last year's blood drive was a huge success and we're looking forward to matching and surpassing last year's participation numbers this time around. Our program is excited to raise awareness and to get as many people as possible to come out to support this great cause.
Throughout the day, Rutgers wrestlers will be on hand to interact with donors and sign autographs. The blood drive will benefit patients of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Embrace Kids foundation, which works to improve the quality of life for families whose children are battling cancer, sickle cell and other serious health issues.
Rutgers wrestling began its association with Embrace Kids during the 2013-14 season and has since gone on to spend time with and mentor numerous children bravely battling their diseases.
"We're thankful for Rutgers wrestling and the Embrace Kids Foundation's support," says Sally Wells, Business Development Liaison for RWJUH Blood Services. "Because we are an academic medical center, the Flagship Cancer Hospital of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and a Level I Trauma Center, our clinicians address some of the most serious illnesses in the state. Blood and blood products serve as a crucial lifeline for our patients. We depend heavily on generous blood donors like Rutgers wrestling."

About Donating Blood

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's Blood Services rely on the support of individuals and area service organizations to provide a significant amount of blood used at the hospitals. However, the need for blood often is greater than the number of donors. Your donation can help save the life of someone in need.
