PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers football program and New Jersey Football Coaches Association (NJFCA) will host a two-day coaches clinic on April 7-8, head coach Chris Ash announced. The clinic will feature presentations from football coaches at the high school, college and professional levels.
Registration begins on Friday at 8 a.m. and the day’s events will include clinic speakers, lunch, dinner and an evening social, which will be attended by former Rutgers greats Marco Battaglia and Mohamed Sanu. The coaches clinic continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and guests are invited to attend the Rutgers football practice following the morning session.
The list of featured guest speakers includes former NFL coaches Brian Billick and Jim McNally, Army head football coach Jeff Monken, and Temple head football coach Geoff Collins. There will also be instruction provided by members of the Rutgers coaching staff, including offensive coordinator Jerry Kill, running backs coach Lester Erb and cornerbacks coach Henry Baker.
In addition to teaching coaching techniques, there will be a presentation regarding player safety and efforts to reduce injury. Terry O’Neil of Practice Like Pros will be on hand to demonstrate how teams can practice with less contact. Atavus, teachers of the rugby-style tackling technique made popular by the Seattle Seahawks, will also be present for the coaches clinic.
