PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Eleven former Rutgers baseball standouts dot the rosters of nine Major League Baseball organizations this season. Here is a look at each individual and their progress as a professional.

BERGMANN |
DeJesus (1998-2000) is in his fifth season as a full-time starter with the Royals. He serves as Kansas City's leadoff hitter where he is tied for seventh in the American League with a .316 batting average. DeJesus has hit eight home runs in 68 games this season, one shy of his career-high for a season established in 122 games in 2005. He has also swiped six bases.
Bergmann (2000-02) is in his fourth season in the Nationals' rotation and second as a starter for the club. He has made 12 appearances in 2008 with 11 starts. The lefty hurler has logged the fourth-most innings on the roster with 67.2 innings, including a complete game earlier this season. Bergmann owns a 4.26 ERA with 55 strikeouts and just 15 walks.
Nine former Scarlet Knights are playing in MLB representative's farm systems. Right-handed pitcher Jack Egbert is a member of the Chicago White Sox's Triple-A affiliate Charlotte Knights. Three former players are at the Double-A level with outfielder Jeff Frazier playing with the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers), right-handed pitcher Bobby Brownlie pitching for the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) and outfielder Val Majewski playing with the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros).

Catcher Frank Meade is a member of the Cincinnati Reds' Pioneer League affiliate Billings Mustangs and Tom Edwards, who was the Scarlet Knights' most recent draftee, has begun his professional career with the Baltimore Orioles' Class A affiliate Aberdeen Ironbirds.

Jeff Frazier (2002-04), who was a third-round selection of the Detroit Tigers in the 2004 draft before being traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2006 and then back to the Tigers this past offseason, is enjoying a standout season after re-joining the Tigers' organization. He is one of the top hitters in the Eastern League with a team-best .324 batting average for the Erie SeaWolves. Frazier has recorded 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs while serving primarily as the team's designated hitter. In 67 games this season, he has scored 34 runs and driven in another 33.
Brownlie (2000-02), the 21st overall pick of the 2002 draft by the Chicago Cubs, joined the Washington Nationals organization in the offseason and has pitched for both the club's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates this season. After starting the season in Double-A, he earned a promotion to Triple-A Columbus Clippers, and is now currently on the staff of the Double-A Harrisburg Senators where he owns an unblemished 6-0 record in nine starts with a 3.33 ERA.
Majewski (2000-02), who was a third-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in 2002, signed a free-agent contract with the Houston Astros in June and has played seven games with the club's Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks where he is hitting .296 with a home run.

Todd Frazier (2005-07), a first-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds last season, started the season with the Class A Dayton Dragons before earning a promotion after 30 games. He is currently a member of the Class A-advanced Sarasota Reds where he is hitting .304 with six doubles, three triples and six home runs for the Florida State League team. He primarily plays shortstop and hits third in the Reds' batting order.
Williams (2003-07) is hitting .239 with three home runs, including a walk-off home run earlier this season for the Yankees' Class A affiliate Charleston RiverDogs. He has played the outfield in 62 games for the RiverDogs.

EDWARDS |
Meade (2005-07) is playing with the Billings Mustangs where he has seen action in two games with three walks in five total appearances for the Pioneer League's short-season team.
Edwards (2005-08), who was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 2007 draft but chose to come back to school, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in June and has played 12 games with the team's Single A affiliate Aberdeen Ironbirds. Edwards has primarily played shortstop for the club with five hits, including a double in 38 at-bats.
Under the direction of Rutgers head coach Fred Hill, more than 60 former Scarlet Knights have been drafted or signed with professional teams.
