PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers softball team will begin its 2005 campaign with a trip to the Florida Atlantic Tournament in Boca Raton, FL, from Friday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, Feb. 20.
The Scarlet Knights will begin play on Feb. 18 at 3:00 p.m. against Ohio State and return to the field at 5:00 p.m. to face host Florida Atlantic. On Feb. 19, RU will go up against NC State at 9:00 a.m., followed by a match-up with Michigan at 3:00 p.m. Sunday’s opponents will be determined following Saturday’s action. The tournament will prove to be an early-season test for Rutgers as it will take on three teams (Ohio State, Florida Atlantic and Michigan) that earned invitations to the 2004 NCAA softball tournament.
Head coach Pat Willis begins her 26th year at the helm of the Scarlet Knights, who finished 25-29-1 overall and 8-12 in BIG EAST action in 2004.
Rutgers will return to Florida on March 10 for the Speedline Invitational Tournament in Clearwater.
