PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 14, 2014) – For the second consecutive week and third time this season, Rutgers softball junior center fielder Jackie Bates (Lincroft, N.J.) was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
Bates hit safely in all five of RU’s games last week, going 8-for-17 (.471) with a home run, two RBIs, three runs, a .647 slugging percentage and a 1-for-2 stolen bases clip.
The Middletown HS South product recorded her 30th RBI of the season in the 2-0 win at Temple to open the series (April 12), giving her 30 or more RBIs for the second consecutive year. Bates also hit a solo shot on April 9 in the 6-5 win over Seton Hall, her fifth of the season.
For Bates, it was her third time making the conference honor roll this season. She was also selected on April 7 and March 24, while juniors Alyssa Landrith (Vacaville, Calif.) and Chandler Howard (Wilmington, Del.) both made the honor roll on March 17. Senior Loren Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named Player of the Week on Feb. 17.
RU travels to Monmouth tomorrow to face the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. in West Long Branch, N.J. The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 31-8.
