PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 31, 2013) – The National Pro Fastpitch NY/NJ Comets, led by Rutgers head softball coach Jay Nelson, signed former Rutgers outfielder Lindsay Curran (Monroe Township, N.J.), the team announced Wednesday.

Curran was a four-year starter for the Scarlet Knights, compiling 93 hits, 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and a .285 career batting average from 2009-2012. The former BIG EAST Academic All-Star recorded her best season as a junior in 2011, when she hit .301 with two home runs, three doubles and 11 RBIs.

Curran joins former RU standout Brittney Lindley (Saratoga, N.Y.) as the second Scarlet Knight to play for the Comets in their inaugural season. Lindley hit her first home run of the season on Monday, July 29 in the Comets’ matchup with the Akron Racers. She is currently hitting .209 with two doubles and three RBIs in 86 at-bats.

The Comets are back in action tonight at 7:05 p.m., when they face off against the Racers at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
