PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 30, 2013) – Former Rutgers softball standout Brittney Lindley has signed a professional contract with the NY/NJ Comets of the National Pro Fastpitch League for the 2013 season, Owner/GM Michael Neuwirth announced.
Lindley was a star during her career “On the Banks,” setting the RU single-season home run record in 2010 and 2011 with 13 home runs. She is first all-time in school history with 34 homers.
“I was thrilled when I found out the NPF was bringing a team to the Northeast! “Lindley stated in the Comets’ news release. “From my experience playing in New York and New Jersey, I know the Comets will inspire many young players and have a great impact on the community. I am excited to be a part of the NY/NJ Comets organization and look forward to making an impact on and off the field.”
The Cicero, N.Y., native is second all-time with 134 RBIs, and third with 42 doubles and 194 hits. She recorded a .342 career batting average from 2009-2012, and was a three-time member of National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Team, a BIG EAST Academic All-Star, and All-BIG EAST selection.
The NY/NJ Comets are kicking off their inaugural season in 2013 as the newest member of National Pro Fastpitch. Games are being played at minor league baseball venues in New York and New Jersey, with an outreach series in Pennsylvania.
