PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 5, 2013) – The Rutgers softball team hosts BIG EAST rival Georgetown on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 in a three-game series at the RU Softball Complex. The Scarlet Knights (19-13, 3-3) will face the Hoyas in a doubleheader on Saturday with games at noon and 2 p.m., before closing the series on Sunday with a noon meeting.

Fans attending the game on Saturday should avoid Avenue E when traveling to the RU Softball Complex. The University will be hosting an Open House, causing congestion and traffic on Livingston Campus throughout the afternoon. Metlars Lane is the suggested route of travel to the venue.

Rutgers is 6-3 all-time against Georgetown, having won the last four contests. The Scarlet Knights enter the series after splitting a midweek doubleheader at Hofstra, earning a 1-0 victory in the first game to win their first contest over the Pride in nine years.

Sophomore Alyssa Landrith (Vacaville, Calif.) posted one of the best performances of her career, tossing 8.0 innings of shutout ball for her fifth complete game of the season. Landrith set new career highs in innings pitched (8.0) and strikeouts (11) in the win.

Junior first baseman Alexis Durando (Oakland, N.J.) was responsible for RU’s only run of the game, hitting a solo homer – her fourth of the season – in the top of the eighth inning to guide RU to a 1-0 victory.

Georgetown enters the contest after dropping both games of a midweek doubleheader with BIG EAST foe Notre Dame (24-8, 5-0), which remains the only undefeated team in conference play this season.

The Irish took the first game, 8-2, behind a 12-hit team performance, including a pair of 3-4 games from Emilee Koerner and Kelsey Thornton. Laura Winter, who also notched a three-run homer in the contest, went 7.0 innings and allowed just two hits and two runs.

Game Two was decided by a 15-3 margin, as Notre Dame compiled an astounding 20 hits.

The Hoyas are led from the plate by Elyse Graziano, who boasts a .354 batting average this season, and Alexandria Anttila, who leads the squad with five home runs. Lauren O'Leary (8-10) has a team-low 3.90 ERA, and is ninth in the BIG EAST with 102 strikeouts this season.
