    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 13, 2012) – The Rutgers Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the recipients of its annual departmental awards from the previous academic year.

    Rutgers softball third baseman Brittney Lindley (Cicero, N.Y.) collected the Headley-Singer Award which is presented annually to an outstanding female RU student-athlete and was honored for her accomplishments in a halftime ceremony of the homecoming football game against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 27.

    Lindley finished her career ranked in the top three in the program’s record books in doubles, RBIs, hit by pitches and walks. During her junior campaign, she became the school’s single-season record holder with 13 homers and the career home run leader with a total of 32. The Cicero, N.Y., native started 209 of a possible 210 career games, accumulating a .342 batting average and a .466 on-base percentage. The standout third baseman was a two-time member of National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Team and a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
