BLACKSBURG, VA - The Rutgers softball team (14-17; 0-4 BIG EAST) dropped a pair of games to Virginia Tech (28-12; 4-2 BIG EAST) on April 2, falling 8-0 in game one and 9-1 in game two in the fourth doubleheader for the Scarlet Knights since last Sunday.

March-31-04 RU Softball Split Doubleheader With Columbia
PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers managed to bang out 10 hits in game one of a double header with Columbia on March 31, but fell 7-4 to the Lions (13-14). The Scarlet Knights (14-15) rebounded in game two and took advantage of an excellent outing by senior Brielle Cosentino (Carlstadt, NJ) to register a 2-0 victory and earn a split with the Lions.

March-30-04 Solid Pitching Leads RU Softball to a Sweep of FDU
HACKENSACK, NJ - Following a tough weekend, Rutgers (13-14) broke out of its offensive slump in a big way, banging out 22 hits in a double-header sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson (2-16) on March 30. The Scarlet Knights climbed to within one game of the .500 mark by defeating FDU 3-1 in game one and 9-0 in game two.

March-28-04 Softball Swept by Providence in BIG EAST Opener
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights (11-14; 0-2 BIG EAST) dropped a pair of games to Providence (15-8; 2-2 BIG EAST) in their home and conference openers, falling 2-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two on March 28.

March-24-04 RU Softball Splits With Princeton
PRINCETON, NJ - The Scarlet Knights (11-12) registered their fourth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Princeton (8-9) on March 24, but fell 5-4 in the nightcap in five innings after the game was called due to darkness.

March-21-04 Rutgers Softball Captures Second Place at Cavalier Classic
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Rutgers split a pair of games on the final day of the Cavalier Classic, March 21, to finish the tournament with a 4-2 record. The Scarlet Knights (10-11) rallied from behind to beat La Salle, 7-5, but couldn’t hold a ninth-inning lead against host UVA and lost to the Cavaliers, 7-4, in eight innings.

March-20-04 Scarlet Knights Softball Defeats Campbell, Falls to Youngstown State
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -On day two of the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, VA, Rutgers (9-10) lost a seventh-inning lead and fell in extra innings to Youngstown State, 5-3, but rebounded to defeat Campbell, 4-1, in its second game on March 20.

March-19-04 Softball Sweeps First Day at Cavalier Classic
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Fueled by a pair of outstanding pitching performances, Rutgers (8-9) took two games on day one of the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, VA, on March 19, by defeating Towson, 1-0, and returning later in the afternoon to post a second-straight shutout in a 4-0 victory over host Virginia.
