PITTSBURGH, PA – Junior Dana Blom (Mahwah, NJ) scored her first Rutgers goal with less than four minutes to play to lift the Scarlet Knight women’s soccer team (5-2-1, 1-1 BIG EAST) to a 1-0 victory at Pittsburgh (3-6, 0-3 BIG EAST) Sept. 22, giving Rutgers its first BIG EAST Conference Mid-Atlantic Division win of the year.

Blom, who is in her second season “On the Banks” after transferring from Quinnipiac, scored in the 87th minute when Pittsburgh keeper Jamie Pelusi was unable to hang on to Carli Lloyd’s (Delran, NJ) shot. Blom punched in the rebound for the day’s only goal.

Senior Christine Caldwell (Wyckoff, NJ) made two saves for her fourth shutout of the year (4-2-1).

Lloyd’s assist moved the sophomore all-American into sole possession of eighth place on the RU career points chart (51).

Rutgers was rated sixth by Soccerbuzz and eighth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week (Sept. 16). RU also received votes in the SoccerTimes.com national poll.

Rutgers will finish its three-match BIG EAST road trip at Villanova (5-1-2, 1-1 BIG EAST) Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 4:00 p.m.
