  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 6, 2014) – The Rutgers women’s soccer program announced Wednesday that Rich Alberto will serve as the program’s volunteer director of operations in its inaugural Big Ten season. A Rutgers University alumnus, Alberto joins the RU staff after serving in roles with numerous club programs.

“Having Rich on staff will help us in all areas of the program,” said head coach Mike O’Neill. “He has a great work ethic and his experience with the game will help us tremendously."

In his role, Alberto will be responsible for the daily operations of the women’s soccer program. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach in the N.J. Olympic Development Program (ODP), and was an assistant coach at New Jersey City University.

Prior to his stint at New Jersey City University, Alberto worked with the N.J. Wildcats as a U23 and U9 head coach and W-League assistant coach. His other head coaching stops include the U17 “Lancers” Jersey Knights Soccer Club and the Clark Soccer Club Men’s “Big Shots.” Alberto was also the Rutgers University Department of Club Sports Men’s Soccer head coach as a senior “On the Banks” from 2009-10.

Aside from his coaching duties, Alberto also has experience as a soccer trainer, working with Kickzsoccer LLC in Randolph, N.J. from 2011-12 and serving as a trainer in the Jersey Knights School of Excellence program.

A native of Clark, N.J., Alberto earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University as a double major in economics and Portuguese.

“I’m excited to be back at Rutgers,” Alberto said. “It’s a very excited time to be at Rutgers and a part of this staff, which I’m already learning so much from.”
