PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Jan. 3, 2014) – Redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada) has been allocated to the Sky Blue FC for the 2014 season, Canada Soccer and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced Friday.
She is one of 16 Canadian National Team members to be selected for allocation, while 26 Americans and eight Mexicans were also allocated by their respective federations.
Filigno was named NSCAA All-Region this season for the second time in her RU career, while making the American Athletic Conference First Team. She ended the year with eight goals and three assists, leading the squad with five game-winners.
The Canadian National Team product finished her impressive career “On the Banks” in first place all-time with 17 game-winning goals, fourth with 33 goals and 79 points and sixth with 187 shots.
The 2014 season of the NWSL is scheduled to start on 12 April, 2014. More details on expansion draft, college draft and season schedule will be released as it becomes available.
