Dugandzic broke the scoreless tie in the 30th minute when she took a ball up the right side from freshman Ashley Shaban (Oakland, NJ) and drew the Loyola keeper out of the goal and scored to the lower right corner.
Senior Angel Hadaway (Sunrise, FL) made three saves in the shutout (1-0).
“At this point in the season, any win is a good win,” third-year head coach Glenn Crooks said. “I’m very happy that the seniors were able to contribute so much to the win tonight, especially Angel. It’s very difficult to not play much for such a long time and then come in and make plays, but she made some great saves tonight.”
RU honored its six seniors – Christine Caldwell (Wyckoff, NJ), Amy Cuda (Succasunna, NJ), Shannon Evans (Saddle Brook, NJ), Hadaway, Jamie Jandasek (Brighton, MI) and Erin McIntyre (Turnersville, NJ) – in pregame activities.
Rutgers was rated ninth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and 10th by Soccerbuzz in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week (Oct. 21).
Rutgers will finish the regular season Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1:00 p.m. at No. 10 Penn State. The third-seeded Knights will then play at second-seeded Miami in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals Nov. 2 or 3.
