PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Dec. 4, 2013) – After wrapping up her career “On the Banks” this season, redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada) earned a spot on the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/ Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s All-Northeast Region Second Team, the organization announced Wednesday.
It marks the second consecutive year Filigno was named All-Region by the NSCAA, as she earned a spot on the first team last season.
The forward completed her Rutgers career with a solid senior season, notching eight goals and three assists (19 points). Her goal and points totals were good for second on the squad, while she led the team in game-winning goals with five.
Filigno leaves the Scarlet Knights program as one of the most accomplished players in school history. A member of the Canadian National Team, Filigno ends her career in first place with 17 game-winning goals, fourth with 33 goals and 79 points and sixth with 187 shots. Filigno tied the school’s single-season goal mark (15) as a junior and set the record for most game-winners in a single-season (seven) that same year.

RU eventually fell, 3-0, in a penalty kick shootout with No. 12 West Virginia (Nov. 16), but did not allow a goal in the final 360:99 minutes of the season. The squad also advanced to its first conference championship since 2006, as the team faced No. 17 UCF (Nov. 10) in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
