PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 1, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team hosts Cincinnati on Sunday, Nov. 3 for its quarterfinal match of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The No. 3 Scarlet Knights (12-4-2, 5-3-1) look to advance to their first conference tournament semifinal since 2006 with a win against the No. 6 Bearcats (8-10-1, 4-4-1).

RU will wear its road red uniforms against Cincinnati on their home pitch for a “Blackout” match. Fans are encouraged to wear black to the game. The match will be broadcast live on RVision, presented by AT&T.

The squad will also hold a post-match autograph session for fans interested.

The Scarlet Knights finished the 2013 regular season 10-1 at home, setting a new home wins record. RU also finished the 2013 regular season with 33 goals. It is the fifth time since 2005 that the Scarlet Knights scored at least 30 goals.

    Scouting Cincinnati

The Bearcats enter Sunday’s quarterfinal match after dropping a highly contested match against No. 2 Louisville in their season finale. Cincinnati led, 3-2, after the first half, but Louisville came back to tie and force overtime before recording the victory. Forward Katy Couperus scored two goals in the loss.

Cincinnati visits Piscataway with two six-goal scorers in Couperus and Emily Elsbrbrock. Jae Atkinson leads the Bearcats with six assists. Natalie Smith is the Bearcats starter in between the pipes, boasting a 1.49 GAA and .760 save-percentage.

    Series vs. The Bearcats

The Scarlet Knights own a 9-2-1 advantage all-time against Cincinnati, winning the most recent meeting between the two schools, 1-0, earlier this season. Sunday’s match marks the first postseason match between the two schools.
