PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 23, 2013) – Junior forward Stef Scholz (South Hackensack, N.J.) was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. It marks the second-straight week the conference honored Scholz after she was named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
Scholz scored the game-winning goal with 0:31 seconds remaining in regulation in RU’s 2-1 win over Villanova on Friday, Sept. 20. The cap was her sixth in three games and second game-winner in two games.
Scholz’s six goals leads the team, as all have come in the last three games. She scored four goals in the Scarlet Knights’ 5-1 win over Princeton on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Yurcak Field, notching a hat trick in just 18 first-half minutes.
Her placement on the honor roll makes her the fifth different Scarlet Knight to receive the award this season. Redshirt senior Jess Janosz (Ringwood, N.J.) has received the award twice, with redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Missaassgua, Canada), sophomore Sara Corson (Metuchen, N.J.) and freshman Madison Tiernan (Voorhees, N.J.) earning the honor once.
Tiernan received American Athletic Rookie of the Week honors as well on Sept. 16 following a five-point (2g, 1a) weekend.
