PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 7, 2013) – TopDrawerSoccer.com has once again honored redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada), as the organization announced Tuesday her No. 12 ranking in the Preseason National Women’s Top 100. It was the second preseason honor of 2013 for Filigno, who also earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Preseason Best XI Second Team for her play during the 2012 season.

The forward is the highest ranked player from the American Athletic Conference to make the Top 100, which includes sophomores, juniors and seniors. TopDrawerSoccer.com selected redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada) to its 2013 Preseason Best XI Second Team on July 30. Filigno is the leading returning scorer for the Rutgers women’s soccer team, posting 15 goals and tallying five assists (35 points) during the 2012 season.

Following her record-setting success last year, TopDrawerSoccer named Filigno to its 2012 Third Team. The forward for the Canadian National Team was also named the Big Apple Soccer Player of the Year, as well as being named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team and NSCAA All-America Second Team.

Filigno tied the school’s single-season mark of 15 goals during her junior campaign, a record previously held by former RU standout and U.S. Women’s National Team star, Carli Lloyd. Her 35 points were good for third on the single-season list, while she broke the school record with seven game-winning goals. For her career, the forward is third in game-winning scores (12), fifth in goals (25) and sixth in points (60).

The Scarlet Knights compete in their first scrimmage on Aug. 13 at West Virginia before returning to Piscataway on Aug. 17 to wrap up their preseason against Richmond at Yurcak Field. RU opens the 2013 season at Yurcak Field on Aug. 23 against Drexel.

Season tickets for RU women’s soccer are now on sale and are $50 for adults, $40 for children 12 & under and seniors 55 & older. All packages include a free t-shirt.  Season tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 732-907-1570.
