  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 25, 2013) – As part of the Rutgers women’s soccer newcomer series, the program announced  the additions of Jessica Puchalski (South Brunswick, N.J.), Jenna Seddon (Galloway, N.J.), Ali Ryan (Bowie, Md.) and Madison Tiernan (Voorhees, N.J.) to its veteran corps of forwards.  The class bolsters an already strong unit, which returns 84 percent of its scoring from a year ago.

“First and foremost, I love the mentality of our group of incoming forwards,” said head coach Glenn Crooks. “Madison, Jess, Ali and Jen all know how to get to goal.  They put a lot of pressure on the back line.  Their biggest challenge, as is the challenge of our entire forward group, will be their consistency in finishing.  We have a lot of depth in that position and they are a group that can wear down a back line.”

Three of the four incoming forwards hail from the Garden State, as Tiernan and Puchalski were both NJGSCA Top 20 All-State Players multiple times.

The Scarlet Knights will compete in two scrimmages – at West Virginia on Aug. 13 and home vs. Richmond on Aug. 17 – before playing their season-opener at Yurcak Field on Friday, Aug. 23 against Drexel.

Stay tuned to scarletknights.com/soccer-women, as the incoming midfield and defensive groups will be introduced.
